Dr. Paul Phillips III has been a champion in restoring and preserving the Black church and school on Main Street in Fredericksburg where his ancestors worshiped and studied. In this tour, Dr. Phillips will take participants on a tour of the restored buildings while explaining the history of the buildings and contents along with the process of their restoration. Phillips is a 4th-generation Fredericksburg resident, orthopedic surgeon, retired U.S. Army Medical Corps colonel and board president of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Gillespie County.
