Enjoy lunch from Skyviews while this lecture explores the intersection of public health, misinformation and anti-science movements through the lens of the 2025 measles outbreak in West Texas. Led by Dr. Katherine Wells, Director of Lubbock Public Health, it offers a frontline view of the response and role of misinformation and eroded trust. It explores how local governance, leadership and cross-agency coordination were critical in navigating the outbreak and protecting community health. Dr. Wells expanded Lubbock Public Health into a regional leader, served with the Texas Department of State Health Services, and is a past president of the Texas Association of City and County Health Officials. She holds a DrPH from the University of North Carolina and an MPH from Texas A&M.
