Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, one of the most influential 20th-century architects, profoundly impacted modern architecture in Europe, the U.S. and worldwide. This class critically examines Mies’s lasting legacy and explores why some of his ideas endured while others did not. In addition, it will give a greater understanding of modern architecture and living/housing culture of the 20th century. Urs Peter “Upe” Flueckiger, M. Arch, Dipl. Arch. SIA, is a full professor and Dean of the Huckabee College of Architecture at Texas Tech, where he also maintains his architectural practice.
