Palo Pinto Mountains State Park will be the first new state park in 25 years when development is complete. Discover what it takes to bring a park to readiness for people to enjoy. This 4,800-acre park in the Cross Timbers area was once home to the Tonkawa and Caddo and contains archaeological features such as a 3,500-year-old campsite. Texans will find a wide range of activities in its lake and creeks, sheltered canyons and beautiful vistas.
