Learn why Fort Martin Scott was established, about its relationship with the town and how the military helped it survive, who Martin Scott was, the lives of the people stationed there, why the fort closed but then reopened after the end of the Civil War, and how the site became the location for the first Gillespie County Fair, the first horse races in the county and the first wine-making in the area.
