A new book by Abilene author Garner Roberts tells the journey of Bubba Ephriam, the first Black high school basketball player to integrate the UIL state tournament in Austin. Learn how the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling opened the door for Bubba, a high schooler from Pecos, to be a part of Texas’ athletic history. The book is published by Leafwood, an imprint of Abilene Christian University Press and available at ACU Press and Amazon.
