Tom and Ida Hendrick moved to Abilene in 1932, establishing the Hendrick Home for Children in 1939. The iconic main building was rebuilt featuring a comprehensive museum covering the founding ranching family’s history as well as the years of service to children in need. Please note parking information under "Location."

Hendrick Home for Children Board Room

2748 Jeanette Street, Abilene 79602. Please enter from Jeanette Street on Tom Roberts drive. Park in the rear and enter through the dining room, where we will gather. The entrance is accessible with ramps and elevator is available. Members will gather in the dining room then proceed to the board room.

Judith Godfrey

Instructors Judy Godfrey and Burgess Thomas collaborated to develop the one-of-a kind museum, which showcases the legacy of the Hendrick family and development of the institution. Judy is the former director of The Grace Museum in Abilene.

Burgess Thomas

Burgess "Bird" Thomas is a champion of the arts in Abilene and has served in a number of roles in promoting Abilene's cultural resources.
