Science is a social endeavor, and this is never more clear than in the genre of science fiction. Here emerging scientific knowledge meets the norms, fears, and values of the culture. In this presentation, we will explore works of science fiction from “Frankenstein” through modern works such as “The Matrix,” “Outlander,” and “Stranger Things” to determine what is true scientifically and what is fiction, and what they say about our culture and our human nature.
