Join OLLI in an unforgettable experience as we enjoy Christoph Willibald Gluck and Ranieri de' Calzabigi’s “Orfeo ed Euridice,” presented by TTU School of Music. We will have an in-depth discussion with members of the school before the performance. Euridice is killed attempting to escape the violence raging in her home country. Aided by a mysterious stranger (Amore), Orfeo embarks on a journey to retrieve his love from the grips of death, crossing an imposing river and navigating a living “hell” menaced by disembodied souls. Set in a refugee crisis on the border between two countries, "Orfeo ed Euridice" places the theme of undying love against the backdrop of very real and increasingly common despair around the world.
