Today the quiet beauty and the lonely limestone buildings of Morris Ranch, a scattered ghost town 12 miles southwest of Fredericksburg, offer only hints of the colorful history once made at this world-famous training ground for racehorses. Instructor Michael Barr writes the local history column Hindsights for the Fredericksburg Standard. The author of five books and numerous short stories, he is a regular contributor to Rock and Vine Magazine.
