The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was the first organization in the state of Texas to propagate and release freshwater mussels into the wild. Learn why these are some of the most endangered animals on the planet, their history and how Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery is rearing them. The lecture will also discuss the channel catfish propagation and how these fish fulfill tribal treaty agreements with the southwest Native Americans.

Bailey Gaines

Bailey Gaines has a master's in fish biology from Texas Tech and started the freshwater mussel propagation and research program at Inks Dam NFH.

Jacqualyn Halmbacher

Jacqualyn Halmbacher has a bachelor's from Ohio University in freshwater, marine and environmental biology and implemented in vitro techniques at Inks Dam NFH in 2020.
