Altstadt is German for “old town”, and the Altstadt Brewery is a perfect addition to the culture and future of Fredericksburg. Germany’s beer purity law, or Reinheitsgebot, was passed in 1516 and allowed only simple ingredients in German beer: barley, hops, water and, later, yeast. Altstadt follows this tried and true German brewing tradition. Come tour the Altstadt Brewery, learn about brewing German style beers and taste German brewing at its best.

Craig Rowan
fell in love with the brewing industry in 2008 at the Abita brewing company in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Over the years, he studied at the World Brewing Academy in Chicago and worked his way to brewing for the largest brewery in the Southeast. In 2017, he was hired at Altstadt to build the cellaring program and recipe development; recently, he was promoted to Head Brewer and now oversees all aspects of production in the facility.| Date | Day | Time | Location |
