The Austin to Marble Falls Railroad began six years before the town of Marble Falls was established. The Railroad, constructed in several stages, created a direct link to Austin. It was instrumental in the growth of the town and the construction of the Texas State Capitol, as its tracks were crucial for transporting the infamous pink granite.
