Originating in 1993, the current property tax system in Texas aims to provide equitable funding for school students. The complexity of the appraisal system stems from variations in property values and from the multiplicity of taxing authorities. Sequencing the story brings clarity and understanding. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their own Notice of Appraised Value and their Tax Statement to review during the class.
