The Battles of Adobe Walls refers to two separate conflicts that occurred near the ruins of William Bent's abandoned trading post in Hutchinson County. The first battle involved Kit Carson and U.S. Army troops against a force of Kiowa, Comanche and Plains Apache warriors. The second battle was the Comanche, Kiowa and Plains Apache Indians led by Quanah Parker against 28 men and one woman. These battles could be considered a small part of the turning point in the relationships between the settlers and the Native Americans in the American West.
