Petroleum has revolutionized our world. Dana Rowan will discuss oil’s origin, occurrence and production techniques that have led to our country’s record production levels. The course will address the economic benefits and environmental challenges of burning fossil fuels, emphasizing proposed and current technologies designed to ameliorate the environmental consequences of burning fossil fuel energy sources. Similar in scope to the author’s previous OLLI course, this updated course will address the rapidly changing energy landscape. As a petroleum geologist, Dana Rowan worked for Chevron and its predecessor for 35 years and currently holds professional geoscientist licenses in Texas and Wyoming. Dana Rowan

Dana Rowan, M.S., is a geologist who worked for Chevron and its predecessor for 35 years and is a member of the Austin Geological Society. He moved to Fredericksburg to enjoy the natural beauty of the Hill Country.
