The city of Marble Falls was named after a waterfall on the Colorado River, which is now covered by the water impounded by Max Starke Dam. However, the bedrock of the falls is limestone, not marble, leading to the question of who named, or misnamed, the falls? This lecture will discuss the exploration along the Colorado River and the settlement of the Marble Falls area.
