With the advent of new media and a changing polarized political landscape, issues related to the First Amendment have come to the forefront of legal and political discussions. This class will cover the history of the First Amendment from its proposal in 1789 through current events. Key cases from the United States Supreme Court that have shaped the First Amendment will be discussed.
