Enjoy lunch at Skyviews Restaurant while exploring Lubbock’s theater companies in the decades following World War II. This presentation reviews local theater companies, spaces and key individuals who shaped the dramatic arts on the South Plains. Topics include the advocacy of the Theatre Guild and the region’s dinner theaters, which hosted notable Hollywood performers. Discover behind-the-scenes stories from venues such as the Hayloft Dinner Theater and Lubbock Theatre Centre. Elissa Stroman, Ph.D., is the oral history archivist of the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library at Texas Tech. Originally from Sweetwater, she primarily researches fine arts and women’s histories and is the editor of the West Texas Historical Review.
