In the years before the 19th Amendment of the United States Constitution gave women the right to vote in 1920, the male voters Lubbock County elected two women to public office. Their stories are a fascinating tale of early Lubbock and of frontier life on the Plains. Come meet Elizabeth Boyd and Mary Hinton – the Women Men Elected.
Deborah Bigness serves on the Lubbock County Historical Commission and the City of Lubbock Urban Design and Historic Preservation Commission. She retired from Texas Tech University after 21 years as the manager of Site Operations at the Lubbock Lake Landmark.
