In this overview of screen tourism, Robert Peaslee will discuss his field work in Northern Ireland and New Zealand related to film and television shooting locations that become popular tourism destinations, with particular reference to the HBO series Game of Thrones and the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film trilogies. In addition, he will cover implications of this activity related to the regional development, national identity and emerging global production centers.
Robert M. Peaslee is associate dean of the Honors College and associate professor in Journalism & Creative Media Industries at Texas Tech. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder, with earlier degrees in English and Communication.
